Soccer Philosophy
Overheard:
"Sometimes I see girls on the soccer team who won't even attempt to go for the ball. They stand and watch it go into the net thinking that there's no way they could save it. I've always said that no matter how impossible the shot is or how unlikely it is you could prevent it from going in, you should always go for it. I mean there have been times that I've personally gone for the ball and I thought there was nooo way in the world I could make it or save it and somehow I did.
Direction Maybe?
Well, no serious entries lately. I guess I've been busy, or rather putting some serious time "investment" into myself. What does that mean exactly? Please ask. ... Anyways, I'm on a definite up swing. I don't want to jinx it, but then, I seriously doubt that's possible. Simply because I don't feel like it's luck entirely, more like comeupance.
Anyways, of the many things I dabble with or get myself involved with, one of them was bound to get a little more attention than the others.
The Odyssey
If you've never read The Odyssey, I'd recommend it. It's the story of an unfortunate Greek warrior who must make a perilous trek to return to his homeland after years of being stranded. I remember reading it my senior year in high school and having a great deal of apprehension for its exam. It was the first exam for our Humanities class and that friday before the exam I went home as usual dreading the studying I would have to do over the weekend.
Bigger Than You
A crazy man from Athens once exclaimed "life is bigger, It's bigger than you, And you are not me". I have a personal belief that everyone on this planet knows that there is something bigger than them. And I think that each one of us long to be part of that "bigness" in some way. Our reasons may vary but the intent is there.
I see this in religion, following God or a faith.
What's Wrong?
Sometimes one of my brothers will ask me: "What's wrong?", and sometimes they'll get the response "Nothing more than usual". I guess this clearly classifies me as a pessimist. Is something always wrong? Well in a sense yes. I mean 50 Cent didn't win a grammy, we still haven't found those WMD's and, worse of all, I can't shake that my-life-is-stagnant feeling that always seems to sneak up on me. .
