The Detroit in "Detroit Basketball"
Against my better judgement I stayed up last night to watch the Pistons vs. Spurs championship game. And to Detroit's misfortune, the Pistons lost. Yesterday I was talking with my boss, and I was asked who I thought would win. In my complete lack of basketball background, I said that the Spurs would win. Disappointed with my response I had to offer an explanation. I reasoned that for whatever reason, the little I saw the Spurs play in the NBA playoffs they seemed to have a spirit and team work that I felt was amiss in Detroit.
And the sad part of it all was that the only reason I cared for a Pistons victory was to give a boon to Detroit. That city can use pretty much use any positive attention it can get. Mayor Kilpatrick would probably in the end have thrown the team a parade had they won, but with all the city layoffs in police force and city workers, it seems better that there will be no parade afterall.
So don't dismiss me as a Pistons hater but there is little love left for the torn city of Detroit. I know that my analogy between the game and the place where it's played is oversimplified for this one naive blog post. However I long for the day when the city can shine like the sports team that represents it.
(They could have still won though.)

I Think I Found my MP3 Player
I've been holding out on an MP3 player for over a year now. My biggest frustration with things like the iPod is that they have bad battery life and support few sound formats, and their compatibility is mediocre. ... So if I were to list my requirements they would be:
* Play MP3, WMA, Ogg - (I ripped most of my CD's to Ogg format)
-
10-15 hour battery life - (iPod does 6?)
-
Can act as a removable USB2 hard drive in all OS’s (really windows and linux)
-
FM Radio receiver - (I don’t understand why this is not more common?)
-
Voice recorder - (VERY nice, but not required)
So I could barely beleive it, when someone showed me the iAudio X5. It has all that AND more. So now I just have to do my research and get it. The (nearly) impossible has happened, I think I found my MP3 player!

Overload
I've been overloaded with physical work for the past 3 weeks or so. This weekend wasn't much better, I'm not saying it was all bad, but there is only so much stress the body can take. Work's been busy too. On the tech side, I've been devoting a lot of time to my Resource pages, I've noticed a 100% spike in traffic for the last week. Which really brings me to my issue (just one?). If you start "profiting" from your hobby, does it still qualify as a hobby? Then of course, it would be a dream to be being paid for doing something you love.
Well that's my (pathetic) reason for why my blog's been so dry lately. I plan to be opining once again about all that is not well according to MJM. Stay tuned.

Store Wars
Okay this is too funny to pass up. Now I normally don't go out of my way for organic foods, but I might be swayed.
For yet another Star Wars parody visit Store Wars.
And may the farm be with you.

Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Just got back from Star Wars and I'm questioning why I had any expectations at all for it to be satisfying. I watched the trailers and tv ads a few days ago and I had a little anticipation, but in the end, I was disappointed. Basically if I ignore the bad acting and ridiculous dialogue I might find a bit more appreciation. However, all I feel is I'm watching the movie monster envisioned by a pompous director who suckered the world into giving him money to see it.
I'm glad the Star Wars nonsense is over. But there's a greater trouble lurking out there. It seems like recently all blockbusters aren't complete unless they degrade into some trilogy sequence. "Oh I've seen the first 2, and they sucked, but I really feel like I have see the third one!" ... Or something like that.
