They Can Speak English in India
Today's Ann Arbor News has the front page of the business section showing an Indian female answering "qurestions" in India from American welfare recipients. And the news has some articles on the growing trend of outsourcing. In regards to legal work, the most interesting revelation is that "work is going to India because English is spoken there". Imagine that!
In the past 10 years I've heard the dumbest questions about India - all from educated people.
A Little Power Boost
I finally upgraded my 2 year old computer. Basically I just swapped out the motherboard, cpu and memory. Inspite of the influence from the Intel camp (you know who you are), I went with AMD ... again. (The 2.4Ghz P4 did look *very* nice). Anyways, its an Athlon XP 2500+, with 512MB of PC2700 memory. All things considered, it doesn't feel much faster. Although I really haven't used it much. So now my brother gets the 1133Mhz chip.
Linux Upgrade
I've always wanted to update my outdated Redhat 7.3. I was not happy with Redhat 8, but I feel its time to go with the flow and upgrade. So I finally bit the bullet and installed Redhat 9.0 over the past 2 hours. I'm not very happy with it. Too many basic features are removed and there is quite a bit of bloat.
I'm rather disappointed with the Gnome people for making such poor choices with the distributed applications.
